Donald Trump Pledges Firm Measures Following Brutal Killing of Indian Hotel Supervisor
US President Donald Trump has strongly condemned the violent murder of an Indian-origin motel supervisor in Dallas last week.
"The time for being soft on these illegal aliens is OVER under my administration," the President declared in a update on his Truth Social account.
Background of the Shocking Attack
The victim, 50, was reportedly attacked with a knife by his co-worker Yordanis Cobos-Martinez in front of his family after a dispute over a broken appliance.
The suspect, who is now in police custody, has been charged with first-degree murder.
Trump’s Response
Trump promised that the accused "will be prosecuted to the maximum of the law" and will be "indicted for murder in the first degree."
He also blamed the federal government, stating that the accused had been earlier detained for multiple crimes, including accused child abuse, but was "released back into society because his home country declined to take him back."
Immigration Background of the Accused
According to official sources, the suspect is an undocumented immigrant with a deportation order of removal from the US.
He was allegedly in custody at a facility in Dallas but was released on an order of supervision in January after Cuba "would not accept him due to his background."
Deceased’s Background
Nagamallaiah, who originated from the Indian state of South India, worked at the a local motel in Dallas.
He attended educational institutions in Bangalore, India, before moving to the US in recent years. His child just finished high school and is planning to begin college.
Details of the Attack
The violent incident took place on September 10. Law enforcement received a "knife attack call" and confirmed through investigation that the accused had attacked the victim multiple times with an machete.
ICE has placed a detainer on Mr Cobos-Martinez at the Dallas County Jail, where he is currently in custody.
Aftermath
The victim’s last rites were held on 13 September in Texas, with the presence of family and friends.
A fundraiser initiated to aid his loved ones has collected more than $321K so far.
